Today is September 9, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, the U.S. Department of Commerce proposed a rule that would establish reporting requirements for companies developing the most advanced AI models. More than 100 employees from leading AI companies announced their support for California’s SB 1047, breaking with many in the tech industry who have expressed opposition to the bill that would regulate the most advanced AI models. In South Korea, representatives from more than 90 countries are meeting to “establish a blueprint for the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the military.”
