Scott Wiener (D) suggested his bill to regulate the most advanced AI models, which Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) recently vetoed, faced a “whole propaganda campaign” waged by opponents. Meanwhile, the Center for Data Innovation argued U.S. policymakers should rely not only on pre-deployment safety testing of AI models but also post-deployment testing that measures the impact of those models in a real-world context. Lastly, Politico reported the U.K.’s AI minister “walked back previous commitments” to pursue legislation “in the very near future” regulating the use of copyrighted material for AI training data.
