Today is October 11, 2023, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, House and Senate Democratic lawmakers demanded the Biden Administration make its voluntary AI Bill of Rights binding for federal agencies in the Administration’s much-anticipated executive order. In New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy (D) signed an executive order establishing a task force to study AI. In Europe, committees in the EU Parliament advanced a directive that would update AI liability rules. Finally, in contrast to the EU’s regulatory approach, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations is considering a business friendly, hands-off approach to AI rules.
