Nov 27: AI Policy and Stakeholder Tracking Report
Driving The Day
Today is November 27, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) introduced a bill that would increase the transparency of AI tools in the financial services industry. Meanwhile, the Federal Trade Commission proposed a settlement that would resolve its complaint against an AI-powered gun screening company for making “false claims” about the effectiveness of its technology. Across the pond, Amnesty International urged a Swedish welfare agency to stop using an AI tool believed to have “unjustly flagged marginalized groups for benefits fraud inspections.”
Housekeeping Note: In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the AI Policy and Stakeholder Updates email will pause on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. It will resume on Monday, December 2.
