Today is November 1, 2023, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: The Biden Administration is establishing an AI Safety Institute, one of several initiatives announced by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris during day one of the U.K.’s AI Safety Summit. Chinese Vice Minister Wu Zhaohui also spoke at the summit, where he called for all countries to have “equal rights to develop and use AI.” Several nations at the summit signed the Bletchley Declaration, an agreement to cooperate on addressing the risks posed by advanced AI. Back in Washington, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is holding two AI forums today focused respectively on workforce issues and high-impact AI fields like health care and finance.
