Today is May 28, 2025, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: EU lawmakers are considering pausing the implementation of the AI Act in order to “simplify” the law with amendments. Meanwhile, though government agencies in California claim not to be using “high-risk” AI tools that can “replace human decisionmakers” in important areas, CalMatters suggests there is evidence the state’s corrections and unemployment benefits agencies are using the high-risk tools. Lastly, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned “AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs,” and cause a spike in unemployment within five years.
