Mar. 7: AI Policy and Stakeholder Tracking Report

Driving The Day

Today is March 7, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) introduced legislation that would require political ads made substantially with AI to carry disclaimers. The U.S. Department of Justice announced that the use of AI to commit certain white-collar crimes will put perpetrators “at risk for a harsher sentence.” Meanwhile, the Justice Department arrested a former Google engineer for passing the company’s AI technology secrets to a Chinese company. Finally, according to Recorded Future News, HR software developer Workday has undertaken an “aggressive” lobbying effort in state capitals, pushing draft legislative language included in AI bill proposals across several states.
