Today is June 5, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, a House subcommittee held a hearing to discuss AI’s impact on energy and climate issues. In California, election officials warned legislators that their ability to prevent AI-fueled election disinformation is limited. Meanwhile, researchers at the Brookings Institution examined AI lawmaking efforts in California and asked whether the state will “fill the federal void on frontier AI regulation.” Lastly, The Atlantic reports that even though AI-generated content in the Indian election was widespread and used by the campaigns, much of the AI-generated content was unbelievable and didn’t create a “crisis of AI misinformation.”
