Today is June 12, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: A coalition of attorneys general from 44 states and territories endorsed Rep. Nick Langworthy’s (R-NY) bill to establish a commission to help law enforcement combat the use of AI for child exploitation. Meanwhile, Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA) introduced legislation to allow U.S. cities to establish AI research partnerships with other cities worldwide. In Brazil, the solicitor general’s office hired OpenAI to help the government “avoid costly court losses” with the help of AI tools. Lastly, Pope Francis will attend the G7 summit this week to warn leaders about the risks posed by AI.
