Today is July 26, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, the Biden Administration announced that federal agencies had completed every action required at the 270-day mark of President Biden’s AI executive order. At the same time, Apple agreed to follow the White House’s voluntary AI standards, which several other AI developers signed onto last year. Meanwhile, the FCC’s Democratic commissioners voted to advance a proposed rule that would require TV and radio broadcasters to label AI-generated political ads. Leading AI developer Anthropic recommended amendments to improve SB 1047, a California proposal that would regulate the most advanced AI models, which Anthropic opposes in its current form. Lastly, France's special envoy for AI announced the date for France's 2025 AI summit and argued for concrete actions on global AI regulation.
