Today is January 9, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration’s forthcoming restrictions on AI chips are drawing scrutiny from tech companies and causing disagreement among administration officials. In New York, State Assemblymember Alex Bores (D) is working on legislation that would draw on California’s controversial SB 1047, which California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) vetoed last year. Bores suggested his bill would address some of the criticisms faced by SB 1047.
