Today is February 29, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD), who has been working with Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on bipartisan AI legislation, recommended “using Medicare and Medicaid programs to fund AI innovations in health care.” In the New York legislature, newly proposed legislation would regulate the use of automated decision tools used by companies to make employment decisions. In Rhode Island, Gov. Dan McKee (D) issued an executive order establishing an AI task force and a center focused on using AI in state government.
