Today is December 12, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, the Biden Administration is considering executive action that would expedite construction of AI data centers, potentially by easing environmental constraints. In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom's (D) AI working group—which he appointed after vetoing California SB 1047—announced it will issue a first draft of its report early next year. In the U.K., nearly 100 employees at a largely government-funded AI research institute stated they have lost trust in the institute’s executive leadership and asked the organization’s board to intervene.
