Driving The Day

Today is August 28, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: In Washington, DC, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) introduced five AI bills to “make strides toward unleashing AI innovation.” The bills would address the use of AI in the financial services industry, healthcare, and other areas. Meanwhile, Democratic members of Congress urged the Federal Election Commission to clarify that existing laws on fraudulent misrepresentation apply to AI used in campaign ads. In California, the legislature passed a bill that would require AI companies to disclose information about the training data used to develop their models. In Brazil, competition regulators started “preliminary investigations” into AI investments made by Amazon, Microsoft, and Google.
