Today is April 9, 2025, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: President Trump’s Executive Order boosting the coal industry also directs the government to find regions where coal-powered infrastructure could be used to power AI data centers. Meanwhile, lawmakers in the U.S. House and Senate introduced a new version of the No Fakes Act, legislation that would regulate AI-generated recreations of individuals’ voice and visual likeness. Microsoft announced it is “slowing or pausing” certain AI data center projects.
