Today is April 2, 2024, and here are the key policymaker and stakeholder actions on AI you need to know: President Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed AI and several other topics during a call between the two leaders, and a Biden Administration official stated the two countries would launch a dialogue on AI risks “in the coming weeks.” Meanwhile, the U.S. and the U.K. signed a memorandum of understanding that will have the countries working together to develop safety testing for AI. In California, a state proposal that would regulate the most powerful AI models is being heard in a senate committee today. Lastly, hundreds of musicians signed a letter to AI companies demanding they stop infringing on “the rights of human artists.”
